Privacy Policy
What we keep about you, why we keep it, who can see it, and how to get rid of it.
Effective September 26, 2026
The short version
Litseul has no advertising and no data partners. We don't sell your information, we don't rent it out, and there are no third-party trackers or advertising cookies on the site.
We collect as little as we can to run a small, human-curated gallery and a place to talk about photography.
What you give us
- Sign-in details: your email address and password, or the name and email your Google or Apple account shares when you use it to sign in.
- Your date of birth, which you enter once when you join.
- Profile fields you choose to fill: display name, @handle, short bio, links, profile picture, and an optional signature.
- Photographs you upload, together with the camera data inside them — camera and lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and coordinates if your camera recorded them.
- Anything you write in the Lounge or in comments, and any feedback you send us, including a screenshot if you attach one.
What we collect as you use the site
- Basic device and browser information, and the IP address you connect from, so we can keep accounts safe.
- A record of sign-ins and of actions that change the site, so we can undo mistakes and see what broke.
- Counters on your content: photo views, likes, saves, comments, and follower and following counts.
- A last-active time, so a profile can honestly show when you were last here.
- When something breaks, a technical error report (the page, the browser, the failure) so we can fix it.
Your date of birth, specifically
We ask for it to confirm you are at least 14. It is stored apart from everything a visitor can read: no other member and no signed-out visitor can see it, and it never appears on your profile.
If you want it gone, email us and we'll delete it — which may mean we can't keep your account open.
Who can see what
- Anyone: your display name, @handle, profile picture, bio and links, your published photographs, and anything you post or comment in the Lounge.
- Signed-in members: the same, plus whether you follow them, and your public activity if you leave that switched on.
- Only you: your email address, your saved photographs, and your own pending submissions.
- Only Litseul staff: moderation notes, review decisions, feedback, and the records behind sign-ins.
Why we process it
So you can have an account and actually use it: to verify your age, review applications and photographs, show and count activity, send you the alerts you're signed up for, keep the site safe from abuse, and answer when you write to us.
Where the law asks us to name a reason, they are: performing our agreement with you, your consent (which you can withdraw), our legitimate interest in running a safe community, and legal obligation.
Who else touches it
Litseul runs on Lovable Cloud, which hosts the database and the private storage where your files sit. Signing in with Google or Apple means those services confirm who you are and hand us a name and an email. We use a delivery service for account email.
Those providers act on our instructions and don't get to use your data for their own advertising. There are no analytics platforms or advertising networks on this site.
How we keep it safe
Files sit in private storage: only you and Litseul staff can reach an original upload. What visitors load are previews served through short-lived signed links that the backend issues one at a time, so nobody can browse the folder or hot-link a photograph.
Access to the underlying data is limited to staff who need it for review and support. No system is perfect, and we tell you promptly if your account is affected.
How long we keep it
While your account is open we keep what the site needs to show it. When you deactivate, personal information is removed after a short grace period, and your photographer status, follows and unread alerts go away.
Published photographs, comments and Lounge posts stay unless you ask us to take them down with you — say so in your email. Backups age out on their own.
Your choices
- Correct most of it yourself in Settings and Edit profile: name, bio, links, handle, profile picture.
- Switch your public activity and follower counts on or off in Settings.
- Make any of your own photographs private at any time from the photo page.
- Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or for it to be corrected or deleted.
- Change your password, or sign in with a different provider, at any time.
Children
Litseul is for people 14 and older, and nobody under 14 should create an account. If we learn that a child under 14 has registered, we delete the account and the files that came with it.
Changes to this policy
If we start collecting something new, or keep it differently, we'll say so here and — when it matters — in an alert or an email before it takes effect. The effective date at the top of the page tells you when this version last changed.
