Community Guidelines
How people behave here. Photographers and members are held to the same line.
Effective September 26, 2026
The spirit
Litseul is quiet on purpose. It is a place where a small number of photographers show work they actually care about, and where people who love looking at photographs talk about it seriously and kindly.
Judgement here is human. Nothing is ranked, nothing is promoted, and nobody earns reach by shouting.
Be a person
Talk the way you would if the other person were in the room. Disagreement about a photograph is welcome; personal attacks, mocking, hate speech, threats and pile-ons are not. If you wouldn't say it to their face, don't post it.
Only your own work
Post photographs you made. Reposting somebody else's photograph — even with credit — isn't allowed here, because the whole site depends on the photographer being the person who applied. If an image was generated rather than photographed, don't submit it as a photograph.
Respect the people and places in your pictures
- Ask anyone you can identify before posting them, and take the photo down if they change their mind.
- Don't post a photograph that exposes someone's private moment, home, or daily routine.
- In Locations, don't share details that put a fragile or private place at risk — no gate codes, no exact spots on private land.
- If a place is closed, signed or protected, say so. Don't encourage anyone to trespass to get the frame.
What we look for
Intention over volume. One photograph that means something sits better here than a week of filler. There is no posting quota, no streak, and no reward for frequency — take the time to make the next one better.
Posting in the Lounge
- Start a post as an approved photographer; comment as any signed-in member.
- Keep it in the right room: General for conversation, Gear for equipment, Locations for places, Tips for what you have learned.
- No spam, no affiliate link dumps, no repeated promotion of your own store or course. One honest mention now and then is fine.
- Edit your own posts and comments freely — they get marked as edited so nobody is misled.
- Write for the person who reads it in two years, not for the next hour.
Never post
- Anything that sexualises, endangers or exploits anyone under 18. We remove it and report it.
- Graphic violence or injury shared to shock or hurt somebody.
- Other people's private information, or screenshots of private conversations.
- Content that incites violence, or that promotes harming yourself or someone else.
- Anything illegal, including trade in protected wildlife, artifacts, or access to restricted places.
Don't pretend to be someone else
No impersonating another member, a photographer, or Litseul itself. The Official mark appears next to staff accounts automatically — it can't be requested, bought or added by hand. If a name has one, that's us.
Telling us about something
If something here bothers you, say so: email us or use the Feedback form while signed in. You don't need proof, and you don't need to be polite about it. Every report is read by an admin.
When the line is crossed
We usually start small — a quiet note, then a hidden post or comment, then removal and a pause on your ability to post. Serious or repeated cases mean photographer status is withdrawn, and the last step is deactivating an account.
Admin decisions are final, and admins are held to these same guidelines.
One last thing
There is no perfect list of rules. When you're unsure, ask before you post — a short email is always welcome, and being wrong in good faith has never cost anybody anything here.
